“… it was a triumph and one hopes it will be remembered in years to come by at least some of the audience as the occasion when they realised how enthralling opera could be.”

Michael Tanner The Spectator

"The show is amazing ……and it is uplifting to see an art form stereotyped as elitist being performed with such gusto by a bunch of inner- city kids. They'll never forget it."

Making a big donation is a great way to help us reach more children. With cutbacks looming, a growing number of generous individuals have donated money to the cause. We hope you will feel moved to join them.

  • £1,000 - sponsors a school’s full engagement in a project such as I sing of Islington or by nominating and funding school/s in a community or geographic area you wish to support. EPOC has a long list of schools wanting to take part in projects.
  • £5,000 - funds a public performance at the Unicorn or Cochrane Theatre in 2011/12
  • £10,000 - supports an entire annual production ie The Ring 2011 for 4 schools and students from Central St. Martins College
  • £15,000 - finances a 1-year part-time programme with a singing leader in a school with whole staff CPD, class singing and choirs etc
  • £25,000 – commissions a new opera for the Olympics 2012
  • £50,000 - enables 50 schools to perform at the Royal Albert Hall - working with EPOC in a project such as Carmen

In partnership with sponsors we work to maximise the impact of that sponsorship - whether it be engagement with the school, public acknowledgement, publicity, nomination for Arts and Business awards etc.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer at the basic rate, using the gift aid scheme means that every £10 you donate is worth £12.50 to EPOC.

If you pay higher rate tax, not only do EPOC benefit, but you can get money back too - the difference between the higher rate of tax (40 per cent) and the basic rate of tax (20 per cent) on the total (gross) value of your donation to EPOC. For example, if you donate £100, the total value of your donation to the charity is £125 - so you can claim back 20 per cent of this (£25) for yourself. You can make this claim on your Self Assessment tax return.

The Gift Aid scheme is for gifts of money by individuals who pay UK tax. Gift Aid donations are regarded as having basic rate tax deducted by the donor. EPOC receives take your donation - which is money you've already paid tax on - and reclaims the basic rate tax from HMRC on its 'gross' equivalent - the amount before basic rate tax was deducted.
