EPOC has teamed up with its sister organisation CAMS Music Trust to perform Opera Blocks in a large number of Cambridge Schools. CAMS Music Trust is running an EPOC project SingFest with these schools.

Opera Blocks has been performed at 23 Cambridge ‘Schools South of the River’ Music Network including:
Abbey Meadows, Bewick Bridge, Cherry Hinton, Coleridge, Colville, Fawcett, Fields Children’s Centre, Homerton Children’s Centre, Morley Memorial, Newnham Croft, Park Street, Parkside, Queen Edith, Queen Emma, Ridgefield, Spinney, St Alban's, St. Matthews, St. Pauls, St. Philips, and Trumpington Meadows.

Feedback has been fantastic

“I wanted to pass on straight away that the children at St Philip's absolutely loved the event today. I was out of school all day on a course, so sadly did not see any of it, but arrived back at the end of school. I was approached by children on the drive saying things like:
•    "The opera thing was amazing- the best ever! I thought it would be boring but it was awesome!" (Year 6 child)
•    "Opera is so much fun! I really, really liked it. When are they coming back Mrs Rouse?" (Year 3 child) I said I didn't know but would ask if we could have another visit.
•    "I want to be an opera singer" (Year 1 child with Special Needs whose TA told me that the child had been "singing arias" on her way back to class.
This is a great start for the Music hub in a school where we know we need to develop our music provision- thank you so much. Is there any change you could come and see me to explain more about the support the hub offers, especially in schools? We have publicised the events at St Matthew's to parents but sadly I don't think many of our families will take advantage of them but I would love to get more live music performance into school, especially if it is a little or no cost! Please pass on our thanks to the team for inspiring our children”

“Thought I’d let you know – the feedback at the SSOR meeting from the schools who have worked with you so far was superb.  Well done.”

Head Teacher, St Matthew’s Primary School

“…included the children, it was informative fun and accessible to all ages … the children were talking about it all day. We would love to see you again at our school.”.

Headteacher, Cherry Hinton CofE Primary School

“What a fantastic, engaging assembly. A very suitable and well-pitched introduction. Well delivered and funny. I could see so many children laughing and thinking throughout. You did well to make it applicable to Year 1’s and Year 6’s. A very impressive outcome in the 60 minutes! Thank you for delivering the assembly. One of the highlights of the year and the best assembly in my 7 years at the school!”
