"Cinderella is the jewel in this summer’s crown. Director Mark Tinkler did not shy away from the cruel elements in the story. Some of the abuse suffered by his heroine at the hands of her sisters and father made laughter at the comedy stick in the throat. The temptation is to treat this piece as nothing more than operatic pantomime. The skill in the direction was the way in which Tinkler differentiated between the inner and outer thoughts of his characters. That brought out the complexities of their characters."

Tom Collins. Irish News

"Anyone spending their (Glyndebourne) savings on a trip across the water will not be disappointed."

Hilary Finch. The Times

"… the season opened with a performance of La Cenerentola that was a real winner … with the best all round cast they have ever fielded"

Rathcol. Belfast Telegraph

"Cinderella, in Mark Tinkler’s staging was just as successful … a sparkling performance"

Ian Fox. Opera Magazine

"EPOC demonstrated the power of theatre to cheat the limitations of costume, space and rationality. How wonderful to see this cast mesmerising their audience with nothing but their combined talents, well polished and frugally directed. The casting was brilliant and the perfectly judged not-quite over the top characterisations of the horrible sisters and chauffeur were a real treat."

Christopher Robbins. Daily Telegraph
