Have a look around and see what takes your fancy. There are games, good things to watch and tips on what to do when you come to see us at the Theatre. If you don’t find what you are looking for here, why not try sneaking into the Teachers Area and seeing what they have in there!

What is an opera? What’s in an opera? Who makes an opera? All these questions are answered in this section - plus - there is a guide to many of the more complicated words you may come across when you are working in or on an opera.

Opera on Film

A great place to start with opera is to have a look at one on film – or find a cartoon about opera. In this section we have lots of suggestions for you – there are guides to films of operas, animated operas and cartoon operas.  Or you could just go and have a look on YouTube – but try here first – we have some good pointers.

At the Theatre

A couple of quick guides to help you when you come to the theatre to see an opera for the first time – the things you can do and the things can’t do. Can you say “Good Luck!”? No, you can’t! Can I shout and cheer at the end of the opera? Yes you can – but go here to find out what you can say!

We have only really just started making this section – but come in and see what we have and find some good suggestions. If nothing else you have to try the singing horses!

In this section (click on the picture above) are photographs of the many art-related activities EPOC has undertaken as part of its wider opera projects.
